Poker fans and poker players tend to love betting a lot.  At times most get cheated on by scams of poker online sites.  Poker online scams need not necessarily be by the bad sites, a co-player can scam another player by making private unofficial side-bets.

Side-betting is the process where two players at the table bet about the turning of the cards or based on something else.  One player may say that the next card would be diamond for a bet of $100 and the opponent will tell it will be hearts for a bet of $100.  If the next card is going to be diamond the opponent will pay $100 to the winning player.

Side-betting scams are very common in poker online games.  One player will agree on a side bet, if he wins, he will take the money, and if he is going to loose, he will silently behave as if the other side betting has never occurred.  With most of the side betting being done privately within players it is quite impossible to solve this by taking the problem to the site.  Per poker online guidelines and terms and conditions no poker site takes the responsibility to resolve private betting between players and visitors.

Side betting scams are taking place widely.  Usually the chat takes place in the chat software that does not belong to the poker site like in Skype, Yahoo, or Hotmail kind of software.  With the amount of betting being a small sum, people tend to not report getting scammed due to the lot of expenditure that will turn out in case they go in to prove that they got scammed.

Scammers tend to place side betting in multiple tables; usually they make such small betting for just a $1 or $5 or so.  Like little drops of water make a mighty ocean, they tend to make lot such money by scamming.

It is advisably better to avoid side-betting when playing poker online to avoid such scam stripping.  If one has the flair to make such betting there are poker online sites that officially conduct side betting.  Playing in such officially regulated side bets can give one with the security to get the pay outs if they win.

Side bets are mostly used in party games.  Betting based on the colors of cards that will turn up is also lot of mathematics and truly a high-risk gambling because such betting guidelines and strategies has not yet been standardized.
